About

Darryl (continued)

Mel is the Owner of Fayetteville Cigar Week, LLC, an elevated cigar and cultural experience designed to celebrate premium cigars, education, and meaningful connection. Through curated multi-day events, cigar education sessions, pairing experiences, and VIP gatherings, he continues to position Fayetteville as a growing destination within the premium cigar culture.

He is also the Owner and Operator of Suite 7 Cigars and Entertainment Events, LLC, the brand behind the city's signature "First Fridays" and "Fourth Fridays" experiences. Suite 7 is known for cultivating upscale social environments tailored to a mature, refined audience - intentionally designed spaces centered on class, culture, and connection.

His connection to cigars began long before ownership or certification. As a young man, Mel worked in the tobacco fields of Clinton, North Carolina - cropping tobacco and handling leaves in bulk barns - without yet understanding the full journey from seedling to finished cigar. Those early experiences, combined with working alongside his grandfather, Demanester "Duke" Howard, instilled a deep respect for craftmanship, patience, and tradition.
